The Great Thief

Chapter 1717 - Mar’alith

Chapter 1717: Mar’alith

Speaking of this, Lu Li was actually quite pure and innocent. He had known Water Fairy for about a year, and they had been flirting with each other for about half a year. However, apart from getting jealous looks all around when they were together, their relationship seemed limited to just holding hands and giving kisses on cheeks.

In Auzre Sea Breeze’s words, Lu Li was being treated like a pet dog these days.

Lu Li replied with a single line: Shut up, you single dog!

The quest that Lu Li was doing with Water Fairy this time was actually very difficult. If it was just Lu Li doing it himself, he thought it would be fraught with danger. However, the quest was limited to only two player, so you couldn’t just bring along a massive group of people.

If there were two people allowed, it would actually be more favorable with Innocent Child.

After all, Innocent Child could use Stealth, heal, and had amazing fighting power. He was also the best in the whole team when it came to all of this.

It was a shame that Lu Li didn’t want to do the quest with him.

Two guys going together to do a quest would be gay.

Although Water Fairy couldn’t heal, she had no problem in staying alive, and there was more understanding between the two of them anyway.

This quest was called ‘Dear Natalia’.

The NPC that activated this quest was called Mar’alith, a male Night Elf. He was the commander of the Silithus forces of the Cenarion Circle. Natalia, on the other hand, was a female Night Elf and the deeply beloved wife of the commander.

Compared to the lovers from those other days, they were lucky. At least they could be together and not have to suffer separately. Even if Mar’alith was busy, they always still had time for themselves.

However, this sweetness didn’t continue for long. In the protracted war with the Qiraj insects and their old god C’Thun, Natalia gradually had some changes occur to her. More than once, Mar’alith had seen her mumbling to herself when no one was around, always saying that she was right, and determined to keep persisting with her own research.

Finally, after a few weeks, Natalia went missing. The last time Mar’alith saw Natalia, he noticed she was walking south.

In this situation, of course, Mar’alith was anxious, but his duties didn’t allow him to put everything down and go search for his wife. Besides, Natalia was evidently avoiding Mar’alith.

At this, in his helplessness, Mar’alith could only have someone else take care of this in his place. Since Natalia was going south, and there was a small camp belonging to a camp of explorers, he sent investigators to check out that area.

Players basically didn’t have to do anything to trigger this plot. After all, the commander was extremely worried about his wife’s situation.

Normally, there wasn’t much suspense in this quest, because Natalia’s mind had apparently already been corrupted by the Old God and she had degenerated into a Twilight follower.

The players would meet a dwarf in the camp that knew the details, and he would tell the players that Natalia had entered into Ahn’Qiraj Temple with reverence and deference.

The Ahn’Qiraj Temple? Perhaps she was welcomed in by those bugs? No way! Hearing this news was like a sudden heavy blow for the commander Mar’alith, but he quickly understood the situation.

However, it was still hard to accept on an emotional level. Mar’alith’s beloved, Natalia, was a Priestess of the Moon back in the day. How could she defect to the enemy like this? But at the end of the day, the commander was a commander. After thinking it over a bit, he gave the players another task again. This time, his command was to sneak into the insects’ lair and find Natalia. If they could bring her back, then bring her back. If they couldn’t...then they knew what to do.

The players could find the room that Natalia was in, but it was all too late.

Natalia now had already become a ‘High Priestess of C’Thun’. There was no way she could be brought back to Cenarion Stronghold. According to the commander’s demands, the players just had to kill off this monster to successful complete the quest.

Mar’alith, who was still in the Stronghold, got the report back from the players quickly. He didn’t say much, just dismissing them and getting the deputy to give them their reward along the way.

With no one around in the lonely quiet, it was like nothing had happened. There was just the sandy wind blowing over Mar’alith’s face. Below his amber eyes, there were two watery marks which had been dried by the wind...

After a few minutes, Mar’alith returned to his own post and began to transmit new directives.

It looked like this quest need to be done by level 60, because the reward was a piece of equipment which added 20 points to Nature Resistance. This was extremely important for attempting the Ahn’Qiraj Temple.

This quest’s difficulty wasn’t too hard, and the reward wasn’t too amazing. Logically speaking, Lu Li shouldn’t be so careful about it.

In order to complete this quest, Lu Li didn’t even take part in commanding the Stronghold defense. Lu Li did not at all plan to do this quest in the conventional way. For him, 20 points of Nature Resistance wasn’t important.

What was more, this piece of equipment’s overall attributes were rather average. There was simply no way Lu Li would exchange a piece of Epic equipment for this.

In his previous life, the players didn’t complete this quest conventionally.

One time by chance, the players realized that there was another way of doing this quest which would not only earn a better reward but would also change the direction of this sad story.

As such, Lu Li was planning to go the unconventional way to finish off this quest.

Firstly, him and Water Fairy went to where the Cenarion Circle’s Silithus forces were stationed. Lu Li didn’t really have any military role as a Night Elf, but he had the blessing of the Priestess of the Moon on him, which was even more useful. The sentry at the door heard about his reason for coming, and without saying another word, went in to report it.

“I’m looking for someone to help.”

Mar’alith was an outstanding Night Elf. He had a head of green hair, which was rare among elves, as well as green eyes. In the race of the Night Elves, this meant he had an old, aristocratic bloodline.

However, he looked extremely fatigued. Even when he was receiving Lu Li and Water Fairy, there were guards coming in to give him reports, and he was constantly dealing with them, issuing order after order.

“If there’s anything to do, we can do it. Feel free to let us know,” Lu Li offered.

“Child, you have the mark of the Priestess of the Moon on you. I know you will do your best to help me,” Mar’alith said in a deep voice. “Actually, things have been getting intense, I’ll let you help me with a personal matter. Actually, it’s some really bad behavior.”

“Sir, even if I were a god, I wouldn’t think you’d be abusing your authority,” Lu Li responded seriously.

“Alright, with the moon god here, I won’t leave you waiting. My wife – the Priestess of the Moon, Natalia – has gone missing. I hope you can help me find her,” Mar’alith said
